I am an integrative psychodynamic psychotherapist working with both couples and individuals. I am experienced in working with people suffering the unhappiness and/or insecurity brought about by personal history, trauma or simply as a result of living and working within pressurised environments. Psychodynamic psychotherapy entails a strong therapeutic alliance built on a sense of deep trust. This creates an environment wherein it becomes possible to tackle difficult and often painful issues with honesty and courage.
I have worked extensively with a wide range of clients in both fixed-term and open-ended relationships within the NHS. I am a UKCP accredited integrative psychoanalytic psychotherapist with over 10 years of experience.
Couples counselling provides a space for couples to work through the issues that face them with the guidance of a therapist. There are many reasons that couples seek help:
At the first appointment, we can identify and discuss the issues that you wish to bring to counselling, identify any goals and begin the process of communication. I will remain neutral and will try to help you explore any patterns in the relationship and encourage communication between you.
I appreciate that issues raised in couples counselling are private and deeply personal. I do not judge the choices made by couples or their sexual experiences. When exploring issues, I always try to do so with sensitivity, and what I am told is confidential. I am a member of the British Infertility Counselling association (BICA) and offer support and implications counselling (implications of IVF, Donor and Surrogacy) for individuals and couples (heterosexual and same sex) through all aspects of fertility treatment. I offer appointments in person or via Facetime/Skype.
